Mineral Makeup

I ordered some of this last week (I think it was), can’t wait for it to arrive.

I heard about this on a forum I’m on… its basically things like titanium dioxide and mica mixed to make powders you use as makeup. With no other additives like you’d find in normal cosmetics.

I don’t know if its good or not. One article I read was talking about tiny particles of these things being potentially harmful, as they can be absorbed where larger particles wouldn’t be. But then they don’t have some of the other ingredients that standard cosmetics have which can irritate the skin.

Some of the eyeshadows have Ferric Ferrocyanide in them (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prussian_blue – a potential risk from cyanide?)

I’ve ordered samples from http://www.jenulence.com, http://jrminerals.com/ourshop/, http://www.everydayminerals.com

Some of it is expensive, some not too bad priced. These guys look good too http://www.beautyblisscosmetics.com

Googling brings up HEAPS of brands, some horrendously expensive.  Remembering it’s powder, 1g of powdered eyeshadow is going to last a fair while…. so buying samples at $1 for 1g seems a decent price.  It will be interesting to see how well they work.
