Minecraftyness – Part 1

So… I play Minecraft, and we’re about to update to a new version and start off our multiplayer worlds again with new ones, so I’ve been going around photographing everything.

So this is my first Minecraft construction. Obsidian Castle. It started out as a dirt hut of course, and got bigger as it went. Looking at it now, it’s not particularly flash, but it has sentimental value to me.

For those who don’t know.. in Minecraft you start with nothing and a big world to explore. You hit a tree with your bare hands to get wood from it, with 4 bits of wood you make a crafting bench, on there you can make a wooden axe to chop wood faster, and a wooden pickaxe that lets you be able to mine the rock. Then you mine the rock to get “cobblestone” which you can build with or make better tools with – and so on. So Minecraft involves gathering your materials and then building stuff.. and it can be MASSIVELY addictive if you’re like me and like building stuff.

So…this is where it is/was on our server.  The house icon thing is spawn.  Funnily enough, it seemed like miles from spawn when I built it.  Funny to look back.

And a video walkthrough of it

I also built a “general store” and community gardens in our spawn village.
